for a street strip car,what batteries is everyone using?i was interested in the xs power 12v.
never again with optima.

Personally I have never used anything but regular wet cell batteries in any of my vehicles. In my Fairmont drag car, my V10 F350, and my Ranger PU, I have been using Die Hard batteries, and have been very happy with them.

Yes same as Rory, whatever I get from my parts store. Exide, powermaster im not a big fan of Diehard seen to many bad ones but the message is a normal battery. Now I know a lot of my buddy’s have the batteries your talking about but they are over a hundred dollars more.

Ive had great luck with Odyssey, they're proud of them though. We hammer Deka group 31s pretty hard at work.

I don't know fellas... I have a yellow top optima in my race from..... Get this.... 2010... And it's still going.
Modern batts are notoriously crappy. But A crazy intelligent electrical wizard told me recently he uses only Cat batteries and loves them.

I use X2 Power AGM from Batteries Plus in my car. Not cheap, about the same as the one you are talking about. It’s listed as 800cca or so, my battery tester showed it at 1080cca…..I always use agm over wet cell when available.

I knew a couple of the lead guys at Deka, I trusted the company pretty well in the 2015 timeframe based on their knowledge. If nothing changed I'd expect them to be a good AGM option
I have two very old Optimas, and they keep kicking but I also have a Genius battery restorer that I run at the beginning of each season. I doubt the 2012 model will be with me much longer, but so far so good. However, even though I have them, I have never been that impressed with Optima
I like the AGM because it's clean, sounds like Greg's options have some power too, might try one this spring

Deka makes Cat batts from what my buddy told me.

I run a Deka 900ca in my race car. It's 5 years old and still kicking. I do keep a maintainer hooked to it at all times though.

jackfordparts ,yes the early optimas were good i had one from 2004 lasted 10 years,but i bought 2 after they moved production south of the border,and both were junk within 3 years.tried everything to restore them,nothing worked.so never again for optima.
i use a an agm from walmart and so far its held up good.i think i will try the xs battery.a lot of racers are happy with them.

I have experienced exceptional use from Ford dealership sourced Motorcraft batteries.
My first was the factory Motorcraft battery in a 1992 Crown Victoria...sold in 2003 still using the factory battery that load tested good.
My second was a factory Motorcraft in a 1999 Crown Victoria, replaced with another Motorcraft in 2013...sold car in 2014.
My third and fourth Motorcrafts were installed in a 1990 F250 (dual batteries/diesel engine) in 2014 that lasted until 2022.....They originally replaced dual NAPA batteries that were in the truck when I bought it and they failed after just 3 years.
All of these were daily driver cars that sat outside all year long, and MN winters are not friendly to batteries.
The dealerships have good prices on batteries...if that phrase can still be used with todays prices.....sheesh did they go up. The dealership batteries I have purchased have all been less than 4 months old from manufacturer build date.
These are all standard 12V lead acid batteries.
