1968 ford torino 427 w code car....
I say nope, never a public option in that car....
I have seen the mag prints saying its a option but I was told none were ever made.
So Im asking the pro's !

Nothing seems to start spirited debate more than the subject of '68 W code cars, especially Mustangs. The early model year dealer brochure for '68 Torino's also lists the 427 as available, but according to Kevin Marti at MartiAuto who has all the Ford records, the only production cars built in 1968 to get 427's were Cougars. There are people that will argue, but in 46 years no one has ever turned one up. Good luck collecting lol.

Based on what I've seen and read, no 427 ever came in a passenger car in '68 except for the Cougars. There may have been some installed at dealerships when the cars were new, but documentation to that effect has never turned up.
Also, you can't trust the factory literature from that time period as guaranteeing the engines were available in the cars. The 1967 factory Ford shop manual lists D and L engine codes, for the single four barrel and dual four barrel 427 SOHC! Of course, those engines were never put into production cars, in 1967 or any other year for that matter. See the picture below:
