Title: Cam Doctor Cam Measuring Service
Post by: DuckRyder on August 18, 2024, 11:36:08 AM
Does anyone know who still offers this service, where a cam can be sent and measured?

I see Cam Research offers break in service, but they don't say anything about measuring profiles.

I think Mike Jones does profiling:  http://jonescams.com/

If not, then he'd know who does.

Thanks Brent, I'll be in touch if i cant get numbers from Edelbrock/Comp. I've asked.

Actually, I'll be in touch anyway for something else.

Thanks!

What numbers are you looking for?

This is with respect to the Edelbrock roller i had asked about.

https://fepower.net/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=12135.msg132216#msg132216

I was looking for the seat to seat on it and everywhere i find gives the same for ADV and .050. Even though im not going to actually use it its bugging the fool outta me that i cant find the numbers so if they wont reply to my e-mail i might have one profiled for science. I know i'm weird.

Since i'm pretty much sure Comp grinds this, they should already know anyhow though right?

Advertised durations are 281/287.

228/236 @ .050", 281/287 advertised, 107 ICL, 117 ECL, .353"/.367" lobe lift.

Pretty aggressive lobe.   More aggressive than what I like to see on an FE head with heavy valvetrain.

Does seem pretty aggressive.

I was looking for the seat to seat on it ........................... so if they wont reply to my e-mail i might have one profiled for science. I know i'm weird.

Just note, that one can "profile" a camshaft as installed in a block with a lifter, dial indicator, degree wheel, paper & pencil.   :)

So, if you want a science project, go for it!    ::)
