Post by: allrightmike on August 09, 2024, 08:09:32 AM
What generally is the consensus regarding the PROMAX cylinder heads? Quality, performance, are they imports...what?

      From PROMAXX Performance website:

"...........................assembly by our professional builders right here in the U.S.A"

If their willing to assume that with wording such as this that they will dupe the purchasing public into not understanding that the product is NOT, "Made In The U.S.A.", then what else are they willing to attempt, or execute, in the effort of "pulling the wool over someones' eyes!   >:(

Remember, and particularly in this industry, "you get what you pay for"!   ;)

Not a fan.  Haven't been a fan since they deliberately copied Edelbrock.

I talked to them, they are eager friendly guys.  However, I just can't support China via proxy.  I know I do every day on all kinds of things, but taking a light but firm stand on these

Honestly, I'd like to have a pair on my bench to see if they perform as well as they say, even with honking big ports compared to others, but until we run out altogether, I am hitting the brakes with them

There are Chinese companies, then there are Chinese companies that make money by copying US name brand stuff, i.e. SpeedMaster/ProComp, ProMaxx, etc.  I'm not going to support any company that brazenly copied a known design, then farmed it out to be ultra cheap.

SpeedMaster's distributors are junky copies of MSD.  Their Cleveland heads are junky copies of CHI.  The ProMaxx heads are copies of Edelbrocks.  Junky is kinda relative when it comes to cylinder heads, until the guides/seats start falling out.  Guys I know who sell ProMaxx change those parts.

When ProMaxx first came out, they sent me a set of FE heads and a set of SBF heads to check out.  I boxed them back up and sent them right back.

Edelbrock copied Ford and on and on, I get it but not all imports are the same , TM Enertprises Clevland heads are foreign and seem pretty nice ... 21-4N valves and 5 angle valve job on a set of Promaxx my shop installed for a customer car on a SBC 350, we had our local machine shop Performance Clinic check them out before hand and he was impressed with them , they apparently had some Speedmaster heads in there that were terrible but my one and only experience with them was pleasant

Beyond the concerns associated with doing business with many other countries rather than our own, the physical concern with the product is that they are utterly questionable when it comes to the claims of materials being utilized, and has repeatedly proven to be substandard.  And then yes, at times the product will look good, but then in the next shipment something completely different shows up on the doorstep; and this generally with little to no recourse available, aka. "good luck"!   :o
