Title: Harmonic balancer question

Hi there, I'm a newbie to the site here.  I am just beginning work on a 390 short block that I purchased.  Based on some recommendations I've read, I am looking at the PowerBond PB1111ST harmonic balancer.  I want to make sure it will work with the serpentine drive system I'd like to use.  Does anyone know if this balancer ends up at the "factory" position?  I'm also having trouble finding the proper balancer spacer.  Are there different lengths for that?  Which one will pair with the PowerBond to put the serpentine drive pulley in the "factory" location?

The Power Bond street balancer should be made to stock dimensions and configuration....except for the pulley bolt pattern, which is likely the more popular FE style rather than the early style.

Concerning the use of a V-pulley or serpentine pulley, I think that is a matter of ordering the correct pulley to fit the bolt pattern and diameter needed....either will bolt on and work.

It seems like if the balancer didn't put the pulleys in the correct location there would be issues with the normal V belts also.  I haven't seen any complaints about that, so I'm sure the pulley position is same as stock, so the serpentine drive should work.

On the spacer, you mean the crank sleeve that goes behind the harmonic balancer, right?  They are all the same length as far as I know; never seen one of a different length, even on a very early FE.  There are aftermarket billet steel crank sleeves available from Robert Pond Motorsports if you can't find a stock one.

Thanks guys.  That all makes sense.  I got confused when my search for the crank sleeve led me to a product from Innovators West that mentioned a specific length and that it only worked with a specific harmonic balancer.  Now I see that's a very specialized product.  They also make a sleeve that is 3.34" which seems like the stock length.
