Title: New push rods not required Morel vs. Lunati Roller lifters
Post by: fairlaniac on June 18, 2024, 04:34:45 PM
Recent issues have caused me to purchase new roller lifters for my 427/484. I was using Lunati solid roller lifters. It seems that you cannot find them anymore and everyone recommends Morels these days. So I ordered up a set of 7703 Morels. I also expected to be measuring for push rods as well. So here are some comparison shots of the lifters. To find the difference of the lifters I took a .3125 precision steel ball and placed it in the lifter seat on both the Morel and Lunati lifters. Despite the Morel body and "barrel" being taller the seat dimensions are almost identical.

Morel lifter is 2.033
Lunati lifter 2.030

End result, no new push rods required.

I thought I'd share this as I have considered in the past of upgrading to Morels but no one knew or they thought they were surely different.
