It truly was.
I sent them an email.

Must be where some members of the "Ford FE Engine Enthusiasts" Facebook Group get their "facts"?
-
That's what happens when the author is much younger than the engines
-
Bad indeed but posts on many other sites are worse!

Ain’t that the truth.
The sad thing is now this article will live on the Internet forever, and be quoted by many. And just as bad, I guarantee the author will never make any attempt to correct his mistakes.

"The FE block’s added length allows the engine to contain larger components when enhancements are needed (like larger cylinder heads and hydraulic lifters)."
That's all you need to read. The entire article is an embarrassment.
-
Just a bunch of college guys trying to get something going on. I'll give them credit for that. If they take advice from people in the know, good for them. If not, it's the internet, purveyor of bad advice, no matter what your looking at.
-
Ouch It could of been dismissed for a token Ford article, if Comprehensive was not in the title. I would hate to see what they did with AMC.
-
It read like he had an AI bot write it for him. Unfortunately there are a lot of guys out there who think they know a lot about FE's but really couldn't tell the difference between a C5AE-F head and a C8AE-H head. And if you try and correct them they will tell you you are wrong. I had one guy tell me that one of my 427 blocks was just a bored out 390 because it didn't have screw in freeze plugs. I tried to tell him that the early blocks didn't have screw in freeze plugs but he didn't want to hear it.
-

Casting pearls before swine.
-
Let's not forget the omission of the 390 and 391s. Yeesh!
Over the next eighteen years, Ford would offer the FE engine with 332, 352, 361, 406, 410, 427, and 428-ci displacements.

A 6th grade girl could have done a better article. If ignorance is bliss he must be the happiest SOB alive.

What do you wanna bet?

I don't know much about this "AI" stuff but last week I was at the Fairlane Club of America National Meet and another member had an AI app on his phone. His employer asked him to use it to generate "softer" emails that he sends to clients. His own words no longer do the job? Anyhow he showed me how other features worked. He "spoke" into his phone "write a story on 1966 Fairlane". You should have read the 3000 word story. Between the fluff and incorrect info, it was horrible reading.

I'm wondering if this was an AI experiment.
They replied to my email and I sent corrections. Without rewriting the entire article for them, that was about the best I could do.

I don't even think it's an "experiment" I think there are tons of outfits out there just generating "Content" and they starting to us AI. Probably been going on for at least a year. I see lots of stuff online that is suspect. That isn't "quite" right. That's my guess.

Full of fluff alright. Geese...
-
The new large language AI models will help competent people save time in research and content collection. That's good. It will also help incompetent/think-they-know-but-they-don't people generate a lot of sudo-factual garbage. About like everything else, really. Think self driving cars. Will be an assist to smart drivers, disaster in the hands of the idiots that already can't handle cars with the big wheel in front of their face.

Knock that off you grumpy old fart! I am younger than the FE and could have written a much better article from my toilet, dictated to the cat.
-
I wish we would quit calling it AI. It is very far from artificial intelligence, at best it is an extension of industrial machine control algorithms (PID control loops in particular) which date back to the 1920's. The difference is that these programs are searching the internet at incredibly fast speed, compiling the relevant information (snippets of text strings that contain key words) from previously written documents and generating an output within the predefined error bounds. The programs are unable to process context, which is why the articles seem so poorly written.

HAHA, I am MUCH younger than the FE......
-
"Alexa, what can you tell me about the FE engine?" :)
-
Perhaps the "author" used ChatGPT to write the article.
I doubt the "author" would know what a spark plug is - let alone anything about the FE engine.
Sad indeed.

You young punks don't no nutin', we had to carry those old forged pistons that weighted 2 lbs each up hill both ways just to get them in the block.
"Alexa, what can you tell me about the FE engine?" :)
"There are many engines that are FE engines, which one did you want?" ;D ;D ;D
