An old childhood friend have a 65 Impala stationwagon.

That he after much
trouble mange to get a 468 built and dynoed. 600something horses dont remember
He have a tunnel ram so he needed a hole in the hood. The only hood he could find in
Sweden was a new repro hood. He left the hood to some "expert" that managed to more or less destroy it.
it would not even fit the car after that and the hole for the carbs was to small :o ;D ;D ;D ;
So i prommised to help him, he stoped by today so i cut away the junk that was welded to the hood and
straighted it up and got i to fit in the hole and close atleast, some further adjustments needed.
I cut the hole for the carbs about the needed size

Tomorrow im going to make a ridge around the hole, I "split" the center ridge to 3/4 of the widht and make the inner side 90 deg down
around the hole and make a "shield" to put between carbs and airfilter that reach outside that ridge that he could put on when its raining

Love it! :D :D

Looks good Heo!

Heo, that's a really cool car. I love station wagons. I just sold my '58 2dr Ranch Wagon. Really hated to see it go, but it needed time that I didn't have, and the guy already has it stripped down and is going to completely re-do the car.

He bought the car from Harrisonburg, with a 327, and drove it around for a couple of years.
He first bought a 427 but decided to build a 496 and go all the way with tunnel ram
went trough a couple of builders that got nothing done. He wanted me to build it for him
but i did not have the time then. but my fried Peter with PF racind built it and dynoed it
I can say its the fastest stationwagon i driven :D
When we was young and handsome in the early 80s ;D He had a beautyful tripple black
68 Charger RT 440 auto. I had a 65 Mustang, we had a lot of fun cruising around, lot of
parties, chasing girls. Miss those times

That's some really nice work, Heo. It looks so much better with the fabbed lip. I can make simple panels and patches, but that's beyond my skill level for sure.

Thanks Doug, 45+years of practise had to give some kind of skills :)
Yes i thought that lip just dont add to the looks but stiffens the hood
and keep some of the rainwater from running down the enginebay

Looks really good Heo! Keep those skills sharp. It's the key to staying young :D

Had some sparetime this morning so i tacked the ridge to the hood
and testfitted it on the car so it cleared the airfilters
Now some hammer and dolly and TIG welding and trim the inside
and build upp the inner structure
