Title: Brent, push rods question
Post by: hwoods on May 15, 2023, 08:40:06 AM
Brent, watching one of your FE Builds videos, you use tapered push rods.  are the ball ends the same size?  Can you comment more on why you use? Is it for clearance thru the push rod tubes in the intake?  I really appreacite all the informaiton you share   Thanks

I'd like to know why the tapered push rods too. When I put my 410 together using Edelbrock heads I spaced the rocker arms out to where there was clearance in a few places. Been running that engine for years drag racing a cruising and never had a problem.

Generally, it's rocker geometry issues or pushrod/lifter clearance issues.   Yes, ball ends are the same size.  It's a way of using a larger/thicker pushrod, but still having clearance on the ends that you need to clear the rocker arm body, lifter link-bar, etc.
