Title: Interesting Intake
Post by: 1968galaxie on November 18, 2022, 07:01:10 PM
Ported SD intake looks interesting.
Was supposedly on a 716 HP 468" race engine.
Very cool indeed.

Those are actually really good manifolds, but the runners are pretty small for a 700 HP engine.  I got about 620 HP out of one on my 492" dyno test engine, so 700 with the right engine?  Maybe...  The Victor intake on my engine made 675 HP.

I wonder how that manifold would do if it was opened up a little down the throat were the runners go down. Or if Joe JDC got his hands on it.

Would you be dollars ahead using the Strip Dominator?

That particular intake was completely ported - from plenum to the intake face.
I added a couple of pics.

I finally got a street master, and will completely port that one. Should be able to get 2.7 sq inches in the plenum and close to 2.5 square inches at the pushrod pinch area. Enough area for a 6500 rpm 390" motor for sure.

I wonder how much of a market there would be for a new street dominator ot port o sonic type intake?
