Title: Handheld Oscilloscopes for my jalopies
Post by: Voodoojl on October 24, 2022, 06:34:52 PM
The price of oscilloscopes has come way down.  I’m looking to buy a hand held scope to perform some of the old timey test that I used to do on giant Sun or Allen machines.  Specifically, raster and parade patterns for both analog and digital ignition systems, rpm drop cylinder cancel tests, starter draw, alternator test.  I don’t have the real estate in my garage for one of the older Sun machines.  Anybody have any experience or could recommend product?

Thanks Gents!

I use a Picoscope, have had good luck with the one I have.  Available on Amazon, ebay, etc.

Thanks Jay, looking at Pico videos now.  Looks like they can measure primary and secondary ignition signals.  One question, are you able to cancel ignition signal one cylinder at at time to measure/compare rpm drop? (Locating weak cylinders).

Thanks
