Title: Old style dampener to new style
Post by: chilly460 on May 06, 2013, 12:35:14 PM
Hello all.  Had the '63 Mercury back on the road for a bit now.  Just to get it rolling, had to use the old intregral pulley dampener on it that was originally on the car.  It's pretty rough, so I'd like to get a newer style like a PowerBond and put it on there, which also would work with my newer timing pointer setup.  Does anyone know off the top of their head if the two dampener/pulley setups have the same spacing?

Yes, you only need to find the correct later lower pulley to match how many belts you will run

That's good to hear, thanks Ross.  Being a Ford, half surprised it didn't require a crank swap  :)

Don't wanna hijack but if I read this correctly y'all are saying that powerbond makes an integral pulley/damper like the original one I'm running on the truck?

No, they are strictly the later style with separate pulley. Dale was mentioning that he just needed to find the correct later pulley with the correct belt count to work with the damper.
