Title: 4500 flange Dove intake
Post by: fastback 427 on February 27, 2022, 12:43:44 PM
Since Dove only made a few dominator flange intakes we welded this one up. Had a summit adapter milled 3/4" and the intake milled 3/4" then welded them. Smoothed out the plenum with a air powered mini belt sander and various carbides.
Wondering your thoughts on performance?

Nice work, I'm sure it will be just fine. I'm guessing you were fighting for hood clearance  and not able to use a HVH adapter.

Exactly. With the adapter the carb stuck out the hood. Now a boss 429 scoop will clear with the air filter.

To bad the mr gasket #1930 is no longer available,  there only a half inch thick. I have a couple of those packed away in my stash. Nice job on the conversion.

I had Wilson Manifold modify my Dove manifold the same way. It was done about 12 years ago. Car ran great after the modification.

I think it’s a fine idea,  Dominators are quite a thing.  I’ve never switched to one, without gaining mph through the traps. I believe you executed the modification as good as anyone would have. I hope it does everything you are looking for.

nice engine, I going to guess that you do not have to worry about your radiator hose coming off. nice detail on the car.
