Title: Hydraulic roller lifters on solid roller cam
Post by: AlanCasida on January 10, 2022, 04:24:40 PM
Can you run hydraulic roller lifters on a solid roller cam? I have a .634 lift 280 dur. solid roller cam and thought it would be nice to run hyd. roller lifters on it for the longevity aspect and economics too for not having to buy another cam.

Depends on the entirety of the cam specs.  Some lobes are "hybrid" lobes, some aren't.  However, I will say that in the majority of the time, it's easier to put a solid roller lifter on a hydraulic cam than it is to put a hydraulic lifter on a solid cam.   In either case, it's a band-aid for something that's not right with the engine setup.

That's kind of what I was figuring. I'll probably just leave well enough alone. These $1000 changes add up pretty quick. Thanks for your input, Brent. I really appreciate it.
