Odd title I know. Back on the old forum it was mentioned to position the crank in a way that the valves ended up more or less neutral while tightening the rocker shafts.
One position for 1-4 bank another for 5-8.
Stock dampers had marks or notches.
Does anybody know the positions starting from TDC?
Thank you in advance.

Ford's factory procedure is:
TDC compression stroke + 45° or to the XX on the dampener. The crank stays in place, at that point, for both sides.
1 - 4 bank, starting with 4, loosen 2 turns, per bolt, going in order.
5 - 8 bank, same thing but, start at 5.
Install in reverse order, after bolts are finger tight. Tighten 4 through 1 then 5 through 8.

Lance, you can just bump the engine over and watch the pushrods. When all of the pushrods on one bank are down/near down, slap the rockers on. I go through and tighten each bolt/nut a 1/4 turn at a time until all the stands are down, then I torque them.

Thanks frnkeore I knew there was a procedure.
Brent that’s the way I’ve been doing it just thought maybe there was a quick setting.
BTW I got the pushrods ordered through Trend no problem. Thanks again.
