Wow :o https://youtu.be/DZPEDZEFAuc!

The new 7.3 gas engine is the modern FE. Just only offered in the trucks so far which makes it a bit harder to package in a car, but looks like the aftermarket is working on it!

If i just had an extra 30,000 i would build one.

summit racing has brand new ones for $6849.99 plus free shipping!i think its a fair price.there is dyno video where they get over 500 hp with just a tune and headers.
-
I was really thinking about one of these for my mustang but it looks like hood clearance is going to be an issue.
-
I was kind of joking about the $30,000 untill I started to figure out what it would cost to build one.
Engine is 6850+frieght.
Control pac won't be out until spring or summer, my best guess is between $1500 to 2500.
Tranny can be picked up for 500 to 2000 used.
Headers best guess is 700-1500.
Intake ? 1000.
Oil Pan-? 300-800?
Motor and trans mounts- whatever your time is worth.
I have found a 64 2 door Fairlane for $5000 I could use for a body. No drivetrain but super nice.
A whole bunch of other stuff [fuel system new cam etc.] that I can think of so not 30,000 but close to 20,000 if you start from scratch.
I did find out the HP and torque figures are with the engine in the vechile with all accessorys hooked up and running.
With the cost to build a car with this engine is a little high I think I would go ahead and build one. I don't think you will find another engine with this potential any where else including the LS.
I think Ford has hit this one out of the ballpark.

If I was going to do a modern engine transplant, I'd go with the 6.2 cammer. A nearly bullet proof and proven design used in the last gen Raptor and the current Super Duty as the base engine. They are available in salvage yards for a song. Of course, there is the Coyote but that would be a wee bit more expensive than a 6.2.
-
I drove a 7.3. Impressive. Not even close to a 6.2. And the exhaust note...nice.
-
The 5.0 Coyotes out of pickup trucks are cheap but beware all the differences to swap one. The 6.2 is a real orphan and speed parts will be a challenge. It is also HUGE, go measure one. I am not sure a Galaxie would have enough space without moving the master cylinder and steering box and upper control arms.
