Title: Intake manifold plenum design differences.......
Post by: 427LX on August 19, 2021, 06:43:27 PM
Does one style plenum design have any advantage over the other?  Comparing the Edelbrock  split log style to Ford's 4 hole crossways plenum. Other OEMs used the log style too.

The later is a more complicated (expensive) casting, if only in the plenum area, hence the popularity in the after-market manufactures of the prior.      ;)

Of course the really cool part of the Ford castings' routing is that it will better accept sideways carburetor mountings!    8)

If I'm not mistaken on the Edelbrock you can not run Holley's in the standard format. The carb pads are too close together. they are intended to run the Edelbrock(Carter) type carbs.

Yes that is correct. On the Ford MR can only run the side hung float fuel bowls and need to use the metering plate on the secondaries as the block will not fit.

Out of curiosity, would one be able to use a pair of street demons on the Edelbrock intake ?
