Title: mallory electric fuel pump 140

the electric motor part of mine died last week end, I really like these pumps but are spendy.

I guess the motor portion is similar to a Holley. I haven't looked at mine for years, but I know I used to work on my Holley about ever week(thus I put a Mallory on it over 20 yrs ago).

I'm guessing it just needs brushes and maybe the commutator cleaned up? Since Holley bought them out, I'm not sure how well parts availability is? I just googled the PDF for the 110/140 pump and all it shows is #14 is the motor. The first page has service parts and they do show a brush kit as #3146. Not sure if that is still available.

Other then removing the two screws on the top of the motor and slipping it apart, I doubt it is too hard to replace the brushes.

Post by: FERoadster on July 24, 2021, 12:23:51 AM: No help on a rebuilding company but a local guy who did Replica AC 427 Cobras bought 4 of them from me about 7 years ago. Maybe Check a AC Cobra Forum. Think they were original on some AC Cobra's.

Post by: DEANs427 on July 26, 2021, 11:45:21 AM: opened my pump up, commutator worn way down, armature shorted and burnt black, looks like the pump parts are good, will save until I get a pump that runs but don't pump, make one out of 2.
put this pump on in 2012, used, ran until now, great service I would say!

Guess I need to start trying to find a back up for the day I might need it. ???

And why is it that I have a gut feeling that a new pump won't last near as long as your old one? ::)

Post by: Falcon67 on July 28, 2021, 11:16:10 AM: I got about 11 years out of the first 140. The one I have is maybe 6 years old - around $270 as I recall. I run a 250 GPH Quick Fuel pump now, in preparation for running methanol.

I'm meeting the guy on the way to the track on Saturday. I feel better with some kind of spare in the trailer. I should get a diaphragm for the regulator also.
