Who here remembers Spooky Truck?
Many years ago I bought http://spookytruck.net/ (http://spookytruck.net/) and copied the content from what I remember as an AOL or Yahoo page or something like them to that domain. There was a ton of great old FE related content there and I believe that in that moment it was going to be lost because the family could not continue to host it. If my memory serves, the family was having some medical (and maybe financial) issues and I bought the domain and hosted it for them so that the content / history would not be lost.
Well - it seems I'm an internet packrat... Fast forward 10+ years and I'm cleaning up my hosting stuff (now that they are no longer charging me just $5/year per domain) and I stumbled on this site. As it was then - I think that there is some cool old information on the site and I don't want it to be lost - but I also don't necessarily want to keep ownership of the domain and content.
So...
* Does anyone here have contact with the family of the folks that used to (and hopefully still do) own Spooky Truck?
* Any thoughts regarding other FE related sites that might want to take / host the content as a museum piece? 8)
* Other suggestions that would result in this not being lost content?

I believe Spooky Truck was Barry Gauleger (sp) . He was more active on the old network 54 FE Forum.

Is there a way to archive this obscure on the Internet for free? What are the costs of preserving content, however trivial, for eternity?

I believe his name was Gaugler. He mentioned at the time, many years ago, that he had to move on from the forum and website. Never gave a reason that I remember. I also have a list of old links and while going through them a while back, I came across his page of forum members cars, so that page is still up also.

Barry Gaugler is on Facebook and still lists spooky truck.net in his profile. I got the impression that it was still his.

Wasnt he Mahem Bob? Almost certain he passed away. You can search the old forum for his login. www.fordfe.com .

No, Mayhem Bob was Bob Bardell. He passed away in 2005. His truck said "Mayhem" on the side.

Ah you are correct Jay, i had forgotten that! Time certainly gets by, thanks Lance

If the page of forum member cars is the stuff found here: http://spookytruck.net/Opening_Page.html (http://spookytruck.net/Opening_Page.html) then it is the copy that I'm currently hosting.

There are sites like the Wayback Machine - now https://archive.org/web/ (https://archive.org/web/) that store much of what was out there - but you have to know to go look for it there. Having the content available and actively served requires someone to own / host it.
