Weekend Re-Cap:
A big THANK YOU from all of us that put this race together (Myself, Carl Binius, Mike Weaks, Joe Fritz, William Spangler to all the diehard Ford racers, sponsors and fans that attended this event. The weather forecast was less than perfect but we actually got all three days in with just a little delay on Saturday morning. The turnout was impressive considering the forecast. We had participants from Maine, Texas, Iowa, Connecticut, New York and North Carolina just to name a few that I can remember.
I need to thank our sponsors for without their support this event could not happen:
Presenting Sponsor Performance Automatic
Harland Sharp
Trick Flow Specialties
Sarchione Ford
Complete Truck Service
Carl’s Ford Parts
Survival Motorsports
Mickey Thompson
I also would like to thank Ron and Mary Anne Matcham at Dragway 42 for their support and help making this event a success. What a great facility and an awesome track. Thank you to the entire Dragway 42 staff for a “JOB WELL DONE”
I need to also extend a big THANK YOU to the Race Director Joe Fritz and his staff Bill Spangler and Bill Oehlke for making this event run so smoothly. You guys did an outstanding job and I am very grateful.
With the low car count we decided to eliminate the two Quick 8 Classes but still payed out Low Qualifier bonus money. Congratulations to Randy Spohn (FE) with an 8.42 and Rich Kent with an 4.76 (I think) for being the low qualifiers.
Congratulations to all the winners and give away winners. One in particular I would like to recognize is our Sunday Bracket One winner Mandi DeLarec. For those that don’t know Miss Mandi she drives a bottom bulb Mustang and it is geared for 1/8 mile only. So she entered Bracket One against all the box cars and put in the Winners Circle for her first win at Dragway 42. Very Impressive Mandi.
Already looking forward to next years event. We learned a lot from this years event and promise a bigger and better event next year. Stay tuned……..

Had a good time overall. Sadly the weather forecast scared many away. That along with it being Fathers day weekend. I know my truck show is on the same weekend(In Ashland) and it is always a crap shoot for turnout especially on Sunday. I took a hiatus this year just to attend this new all Ford event. I really miss these 3 day weekend races, hanging out with friends and talking with people.
Congrats to all the winners.
DW42 is basically my home track, has been since the late 90's. It has gone through quite the transformation with Ron's rebuilding of it.

If possible, try not to schedule the same weekend as Hot Rod Reunion Bowling Green Ky. usually Fathers Day weekend. Thanks for putting this event together.

What is Randy Spohn driving these days?

What is Randy Spohn driving these days?
I was wondering this also. Good to hear he's back at it.
I didn't go because of the weather forecast. Seems every time I think that, the weather decides to clear up. You're welcome..lol

Randy was in the process of building a 63 Falcon when he wrecked the 58. He had no plans of fixing the 58 right after it happened.

I believe that black '64 Falcon is his.
I also believe that it was the fastest FE powered car on the grounds (I was not in attendance).

I was in the staging lanes when Randy crashed the 58. yeah, there was no fixing the car. Was so happy to see him get out of that car mostly unhurt. It must have barrel rolled 3-4 times. Says a lot for his roll cage. His car was usually the fastest there.

The black 64 Falcon in the pictures at the top is Randy's. The 58 is gone ....RIP...and has been sold for parts.

We Understand and appreciate your thought but this is the only weekend that is available in the May/June time frame we wanted. Plus Bowling Green, KY is 7+ hours from Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio so not sure how much that would affect our event. We have learned that it is impossible to not have any conflicts with the schedule but we hope that the FORD racers would support our ALL FORD race. Thanks.

That black 64-5 Falcon looks great, and if thats Randys new car, its plenty quick. But his old black and white 58 2 door sedan was just so damn cool. So sad when I heard of its demise from a crash.
