FE Technical Forum / Re: Whats Your Iron Head Prefference?
« on: October 28, 2013, 11:24:07 AM »
I have a set of the c4ae heads with the cobra jet valves installed, other than that they are bone stock. We took several sets to get flowed, here are the numbers. C4 were 247 cfm at .620. Edelbrock with mild clean up 253 at .600. Also flowed two sets of dove medium risers, stock one flowed 303 at 600 with 30 degree valves while ported head with 45 degree valves flowed 342 cfm at 600. My head guy thought with 45 degree valves in the c4 head with porting he could get in the 280 range.

Crites has a complete kit for the swap including template to modify shock towers. Difficulty will depend on your skill and tools you have.

Haven't heard anything about sale date. Hopefully they will be fairly priced with strength improvements. Sure would be nice having something that would take a couple stages of nos. Too scared to split my old center oiler.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Aluminum Radiators & Electric Fans
« on: October 19, 2013, 11:05:40 PM »
Hey Gary v, I had heating issues with my 67 fairlane overheating as well. Driving or racing it would hit 220. After a dozen combinations what we did was a summit triple pass radiator, cut lower hose fitting and straightened it for hose fittment, run Milodon 160 high flow stat. Then made custom shroud from heavy gauge aluminum with aluminum ring to mount ford Taurus electric fan, used two position switch since fans have low and high. Also used 130 amp wind star alternator. Really helps with fan speed over the 60 amp original. Temp now 160 to 185 Max.also did this same setup on 351 c that ran 220+ and now runs 170 on low fan speed. I can try to post pics if someone is interested.

Hey jay, wondering if you ever did find time to work on those clear valve covers? If you would be interested I have a set of tall pent roof mercury lightning bolt valve covers you could use as a pattern.
