I need to order some aftermarket axles for 63 Marauder.  None of the manufacturers list axles for this application which isn't surprising (although you see some strange applications out there like Tbirds and such).

Anyway, it's not that big a deal to pull the axles, but with the large tires I run, have to pull the shocks and whatnot and to be honest I don't feel like pulling the axles just to measure them, then having the car down while the axles are being made.  Or putting it back together just to have to take it apart again when they arrive.

So, anyone happen to have some stock axles around they can measure, or have the measurements on hand?   Maybe someone ordered axles and still has the order number and manufacturer so I can just call them up and reference it?

I realize this is a long shot and could just get off my ass and do it, but if info is readily available it would save some hassle.

Looking for some parts to put together a little better rearend for my Marauder.  N case, or aftermarket, Detroit Locker, and Daytona support needed.  Packaged deals preferred.

FE Technical Forum / 12 second pass (other thread got me thinking)??
« on: February 11, 2014, 11:48:04 AM »
OK, piling on.  Toying with idea of trying a few passes at the FE Reunion in April.

63 Marauder, pretty much full weight, fiberglass hood, figure 4350 with me in it
390 .030", Edelbrocks with cleanup figure 270/190 flow, 270H, 750dp on a Performer RPM, 9.5:1, FPA TriYs into typical 2.5" exhaust with H pipe.   Combo is pretty common, seems like 400hp is attainable?.

T10 with 3.50 Open.  Tires right now are 255/70/15 on rear, may go 275/60/15 which are a little shorter for more gear.

Car feels OK, pulls well in low gears.  Lays over on topend and I'll be working very hard to get it figured out as soon as it warms a bit.  Open rear is a concern but no funds to change that at the moment, if I do it I'm going 31spl and better carrier so big investment.  With the T10 though, it is lazy in first and actually doesn't really spin unless you work hard.

15/36-37* in the distributor, in by 2800rpm.  I have a wideband on it and have some goofy air/fuel readings so will sneak up on it, checking fuel pressure soon.

So, assuming I get it squared away, I have access to a chassis dyno and do whatever it takes to get it right, will this kind of combo sneak into the 12s?  I'm assuming, again, it will hook somewhat on street tires.

FE Technical Forum / Baseline timing for Edelbrock headed combo...
« on: May 16, 2013, 11:17:41 AM »
I've done some reading online about timing for combos using Edelbrock heads, just wanted to see if there is as consensus on where to start.

Combo is:
750dp
Performer RPM
Performer 60059 heads with no chamber work
Comp 270H installed 4* advanced as suggested by comp 224*/.519 on 110lsa
1 3/4" FPA Tri-Y
9.5:1 nominal CR
3.00 rear T10tranny in '63 Marauder, going to 3.50s soon

No plans to put it on any type of dyno, so was going to set it up with 16* initial, 36* total in around 2500rpm.  Does this sound about right for the combo with these heads?

FE Technical Forum / Old style dampener to new style
« on: May 06, 2013, 12:35:14 PM »
Hello all.  Had the '63 Mercury back on the road for a bit now.  Just to get it rolling, had to use the old intregral pulley dampener on it that was originally on the car.  It's pretty rough, so I'd like to get a newer style like a PowerBond and put it on there, which also would work with my newer timing pointer setup.  Does anyone know off the top of their head if the two dampener/pulley setups have the same spacing?
