WTB Cam for 390 - Dump Truck
« on: June 11, 2023, 09:32:56 AM »
My buddy has a 71 f350 dump truck that he daily drives for his business. It has a tired old 360 in it.  I am doing a quick backyard rebuild on a 390 I have here and need a low end torque cam for it.... and I need it quickly.

Anyone on here have one laying around? Good used or new is fine.

Would like to find an edelbrock performer 390 intake for it too, everything I have currently is higher rpm stuff.

Please let me know - Thanks

Jack - 540 664 for four one ate

I have 4 or 5 used cams out of 360/390 mills.

Will mike them and see what the lifts are and look at the lobes

You can have free ............ how soon do you need one ??

I have a Engle 3271H cam I ran in a old dessert race truck  225 @ 50  510 lift single pattern 110 LSA
great torque and low end throttle response and I have a Edelbrock  performer 390 ,not performer rpm,   port matched to C7AEA heads , again great low end but is done making power by 4700 rpm.   PM me if your interested

Texas, 35 miles from Galveston Isle.

The flank of some of the cams are different sizes as are the noses, not sure if wear or they were reground

As in, the flank and and nose will .010 to .020 higher or lower than the next lobe over

They are all close to .400 lift adding a 1.73 rocker

All of the mills they came out of had been rebuild

I am curious and will map out all of the ex. and intakes to see how they add up on each cam

If one intake lobe was close to specs and another intake lobe was rounded off ....
... would a regrinder make the bad lobe flank and nose smaller but come up with the same lift ??

EDIT:

Did the Polish guy ever get back with you on the various engines he wished to purchase ??

Ricky, I corresponded with him but he really could not give me any information to give him prices.  For example, He stated he needed a 351 and 429 engine but did not know if he needed passenger car stuff or boss.  I tried...

Thanks for the lead buddy.
