Title: Engine mounts
Post by: ToddK on November 22, 2016, 05:52:04 PM
I'm looking at putting a later, 3 bolt mount block in my 63 Galaxie. Is it worth finding a set of 3 bolt engine mounts, or just use my existing 2 hole mounts? If I use a set of mounts from a later model Galaxie, are the frame studs in the same position? Thanks.

I believe that the later engines are a straightforward swap into the early Galaxies using existing mounts, but involves more work if swapping early engines into later Galaxies.
Maybe someone who has done it can confirm.

I raced a '63 center oiler 427 block at 452 cubic inches in my '69 Mach I for many years using the two bolt holes and a strap on the left front of the block.  Grade 8 bolts through the motor mounts with double nuts, and no more broken motor mounts or vibrations.  Never broke the block or mount.  Joe-JDC

A guy I used to hang out with has them made for the fe and sells on ebay. they are a nice piece and he has them made for automatic and or 4 speed cars.  just look on ebay.   he still sells them on their.  they bolt into the factory mounting holes on your car.  no guessing at all.
