FE Technical Forum / Re: 351C intake adapter questions

Hi
Here are some pictures I took last year when I started on it.
My dad bought this new and we rebuild it in 1978 did everything, stripped it to a bare body etc. Body parts were not available back so we just worked around the rust as it wasn't to bad back then but now was time to do proper repairs.
Last time we made some minor mods on it because it was just a car with little value back then so it no longer has all the stock badges and other things you would notice if you saw it on the street.
He ordered it with hidden headlights, shaker, buckets w/o console and a AM radio. He ordered it with a C-6 and a 330 something rear gear. He worked at the Ford dealership so I don't know if this was a special order car or the options he ordered were available.
Things I have done on this build are
1-Weld in all new floors and home built cowls.
2-Converted the vacuum headlights to electric.
3-Added Aldan coil over's and Global west tubular a arms.
4-Converted to Hydro boost 4 wheel disc
5-Changed rear end pumpkin to Roush-Yates Daytona Detriot locker 3.25 ratio with Strange 35 spline axles..
6_Added Calvert traction bars and mono leafs to rear.
7- Added home built frame rail connectors.
8- Built a 429 dynoed 536HP corrected at the flywheel.
9-I am adding a Holly EFI but have a carb on it now because Holly says to start a new engine with a carb. Have no ideal why.
10-Nobody makes a replacement fuel tank for the Ranchero so I converted a new 73-Ford F-150 to F350 rear tank with a in tank fuel pump.
Many more mods to to many to list.
Should make a nice street car.
Hope to have it on the street by may so I can start on the Galaxie.
I will enclose photos of my next project after I finish the Galaxie since you like the Torino style.

Hi
I want to thank you all for the answers. The web site doesn't explain everything you need to know.
I really appreciate the info on the intake. I don't mind working the intake over as I have a hammer and chisel lol].
I have been racing since the 60's and all my cars tear up my back after a few hundred miles. That is why I bought the Galaxie. I had the 428 sitting in my shop for the last 25 years and decided to do something with it. My ideal was to build a cruiser with all the power options air, power steering, disc w/hydro boost and a good AM radio. I wanted a car I could get in and drive a thousand miles and still walk when I get there.
My problem is resisting my background. First I had to talk myself out of a stroker kit and blower. It goes on and on with a old racer.
I look at the duel 4 BBl. and think that really looks great but then I can only get 91 octane gas close by  and I would like to get at least 10 MPG. I have to make a 75 mile round trip for 93 and I don't want to have to do this with the Galaxie.
Jegs web site says the 2863 is for a 351 windsor and I am not surprised because they have been wrong before on some parts I have had to send back.
The stealth does not have the heat crossover, if I am not happy with it I will order the Edelbrock and see how it goes.
I will order the adapter on the first. I want to sell my 427 MR aluminum intake first to help pay for it.

Yes
The irrigation water pumps we had in the 60's were that way.

FE Technical Forum / 351C intake adapter questions

Hi
New here but have been watching the site for a few months.
63 Galaxie 428 C6 forged internals aluminum heads. This is a street driven car will take a few trips a year going to the strip but not a all out race car.
Before I order I have a couple of questions on the 351 adapter.-
1-It looks like on the pictures of intake install  the front of the intakes are cut out. Is this to show the access plate or for cooling?
I will be running a Sniper EFI unit and wanted to use my Wieland Stealth duel plane intake and was wondering if the bottom of the intake is going to interfere with the access plate on the adapter. I don't mind port matching because the intake is a 2V intake.
I suspect my cam is a little big for what I want to use my car for and will be changing it out in the future
I received the front quick change timing cover and it was very good quality so I am not worried about the quality of the adapter.
I will buy a new intake if I have to but I want a single 4 BBL. and the Edlebrock2863  recommended in the advertisement on FE Powers page shows it is for a 351 w on Jegs website. Is there a good 4v intake duel plane that could be used?
Thanks
Greg
