When you can blow $267,000 on a car that will never ever be driven, I think it's more about bragging rights of just owning one. Look at all these YouTube videos coming out about guys that have 20-40-100 rare or valuable cars just sitting in barns collecting dust or slowly rotting away. Haggerty has had quite a few of them. Crazy.

Agreed. I have a couple of friends who have a couple buildings full, though admittedly they have more of a semi-organized pack-rat thing going on, but a bunch of GM (read "God's Mistake") stuff just sitting in temp controlled buildings. Some of it is cool stuff, being they are primarily Pontiac fiends (Pontiac made some very nice looking cars), but there are a lot of cars just sitting, never to see daylight again in their lifetime. We always joke that their collection will one day make a nice auction for someone.

As I tell people, cars are for driving, not parking on a doily--but that's me....

It is nice seeing some of the FoMoCo greats getting their just due and respect, but there is a large part of me that thinks these people are insane, all the moreso when considering many of these cars are purchased without ever being personally inspected.

To say that this undertaking, and the abilities necessary to execute it, are impressive is a dramatic understatement. This is the stuff of "car guy heaven".

Nice wonder how much it sold for

It was just posted today, with an end date of March 15. It's already at $100,000.

That sounds like an awesome adventure (I'm envious), and what better way to experience it than in a cool car--that Galaxie is sweeeeet!

How many of us clicked "add to cart" ?

I accidentally hit the "add to cart" 3 times--I only meant to do it twice:)

I'm in the Toledo, Ohio area, and Ap/Goerlich was huge around here--always called Toledo little Detroit, so much in the area was geared towards the big three. I'm not sure how early they came in to the OEM, but 70s for sure. Goerlich dates back to  the 1930s--you gotta think they were supplying the OE from the beginning, though which OEMs are the question.

What makes you think Arvin over any of the other? I don't recall ever seeing any markings or p/ns on OEM parts that would identify the manufacturer.

I know AP Goerlich was a huge OEM supplier, but I can't say with any certainty regarding your application.

Well as a 14 years old kid i did not had it  to represented anything  just a cool patch but i did know that my answer would blow his main fuses ;D ;D ;D

A 14 year old kid questioning his teacher is a great thing--even better that you pushed his buttons! I've taught at college/university and strive to get students to question everything; sadly, few seem capable or willing. I encourage questioning and dissent, but there seems to be a lot of fear to do so. Too many in "higher" education commit educational malpractice, in my opinion.

Sorry!, this is a Ford Super Van thread....oops:)

I racked up 191,000+ miles on my 2020 Transit in 13 months without any issues--that was a Super Ford Van, and it never left me stranded, because it was gasoline powered. It ran perfect and non-stop, even when the temperatures were sub-zero.

That Floride reminds me of the Corvair, another horrific car.

That flag you had on your jacket Heo doesn't mean what it once did (if it ever really did). The Marxists and their soft-core socialist comrades have been firmly in charge (in varying degrees depending on the state) over here for decades. Gotta be careful, leaning towards a political/philosophical discussion here :)

Diogenes and his fellow ancient Cynics had the right ideas....:)

I used Permatex Ultra Black on all gasket surfaces--I used Fel-Pro MS90145. I had a smoking engine that was cured by doing this, of course removing the valley pan and adding positive stop valve stem seals probably helped as well. I've not had a problem since. Just know that removing the intake after using Ultra Black or the Right Stuff will be a chore--this stuff seals incredibly well and doesn't want to let loose very easily.

The woman and I thought it's been cold here, I guess we've just had it too easy for too long. Our low temps have been around 0 to -2 F, and pretty windy on some days (around 50MPH over the weekend), but -40 is seriously cold. It's supposed to be back in the 40s next week, though. I'm guessing you're above the Arctic Circle?

There was two of those for sale on local Craigslist a couple years ago for decent deals. One non turbo and one turbo and both with slushbox tranny, computer and wiring.
It made me think but I decided against it due to the unique bellhousing pattern and the fact simple things like gaskets may turn into lengthy expensive hunts.

A friend has a line on one, but is passing on it for the same reasons. Parts availability is certainly a concern, and while I'm sure anything can be obtained for it, paying the long dollar for an equally long ride on a ship is not appealing.

In my opinion, Ford in the US has a long history of making poor decisions, and not utilizing this powerplant seems to be yet another example. Ford hasn't made anything interesting here in the states in a very long time.
