Better to find the shoe than a foot...or a body.  ;D
That river looks like it would be a good one for a kayak. Lots of beautiful areas around your parts, Heo.

It's 88 today, be 103F on Saturday and 109F on Monday.  Any weeds not sprayed grow chest high in a couple of days.  In other words, we don't go out unless we're at the drag strip and then we stay in the AC'd trailer until called for rounds.

I couldn't imagine being suited up, full helmet, inside the car, windows up, on hot asphalt, in 100*+ temps. A couple years ago I got so hot waiting in line that I started to get light headed. Not good right before doing 120+mph. I bought an under jacket garment that you soak in water to help keep you cool. Works pretty good, but it's still brutal on asphalt at times.

Heo, that's a really cool car. I love station wagons. I just sold my '58 2dr Ranch Wagon. Really hated to see it go, but it needed time that I didn't have, and the guy already has it stripped down and is going to completely re-do the car.

In Sweden we have this old right that every free man is allowed to roam the land and stay for the night. So here and there it is built smal
"bbq"  places with tables and benches and some kind protection from the wind and rain. A group of guys from the closest village goes together
and build it.

That's a great tradition to uphold.
Beautiful scenery, everywhere around you. That sure looks like a small rowing boat for such a big river!  ;D

Looks great, Mike.
Question: How are you keeping the paint from cracking on the nose piece? I know they're somewhat flexible. On newer stuff, they have a flex additive for the paint on flimsy pieces, but they have to be installed within a certain amount of time. If too long, the paint can crack from the flexing during install.

That certainly sounds like the box, but I'm always hesitant to say something absolutely when it comes to electronics. Unfortunately, the only real test is shelling out money for a backup in case of a failure, or in your case, to determine if it's the actual cause.

Where did you short the pickup wires, or did you just jump them? Did you watch the video I posted, and what I wrote?

I don't put any stock in the "test" that MSD says to do to check the box. I made this video 6 years ago, I think after the 1st or 2nd failure I had. I was trying to find anything that could be causing the issue I was having at the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85PLiA8qIr0

Jumping the pickup wires should produce an immediate spark, at least according to MSD. When I did that, I got nothing, repeatedly. That alone should indicate a bad box. But when I went to ANY other ground on the car, it sparked immediately. My box is wired completely independent of everything else on the car, so no external cause could be an issue. The car would not start until I replaced the pickup. Maybe they had a period of faulty production, I don't know, because like JB mentioned above, my last pickup has seemed to be okay for about 3 years now.

My guess would be the pickup. I've replaced 3...or 4 (can't remember now) of them in the last several years. They're junk, and they can "check" good, but still be bad. Twice I got stranded from this issue. I now keep a complete spare distributor in the trunk, just in case. It's easier to just swap it out, than to mess with taking the pickup out. But I also carry a spare pickup with the spare distributor. Yeah, they're that bad.

Royce, why do you say "final"?
That torque curve is pretty impressive. Looks like it would make an excellent towing engine if it could stand a regular fuel diet. Or something that could fry tires without straining anything. Did you keep the dual points or convert it to electronic?

Looking good, Alan. Like Jay said, orange peel just requires a little extra sanding.
My friends that do this professionally have both gone to water based now. The stuff turns out like glass and seldom requires much, if any, sanding. Even dirt is less of an issue. The guns and equipment sure ain't cheap though.

Wow, that is a brazen elaborate scam! All the cars were photographed the same way, which made it seem very legitimate as far as the website goes. They apparently lifted an entire inventory from somewhere. It's a good thing your Spider senses kicked in.

So how did this work? Is the website a fake? If the auto dealer is real, did the scammers fake an entire website with fake cars? If the website and dealer are real, how did they insert a fake car? Nothing makes sense here.

You want to avoid the DR4, which is the older Jerico that is no longer supported by them. There are quite a few parts out there for them, but you have to search and hope you get lucky. The DR4-4 is the newer design that they have, and supply parts for. And yes, it's really stupid of them not to support the older version. They basically gave a giant middle finger to anyone who bought their older design. NOT a good business practice.
