I don't remember anything bigger than a 302 in a 69-74 which is where it might have appeared. The earlier models were 6 cylinder only. By the time the '75 models were in production Ford was using the 460. The 460 was, eventually replaced by the V10.

Happy New Year!

I haven't been in a while but it is a trade show and has gotten increasingly difficult to get credentials over the last few years unless you are active in the automotive business and can prove it. Check the SEMA website for more information about what proof they require. It's also pretty late and credentials for this year were at $90, last I checked. It's still a bargain and many of the seminars are free.

I heard that, this year, the general public would be admitted on Friday but I cannot find any solid information on that to pass along. I'm sure there are plenty of members here who go every year and can pass along much more information than I can.

I truly hope you get to go, it's an experience you will remember forever.

Search "vacuum pump for brakes" and you will find all sorts of OEM and aftermarket electric vacuum pump solutions.

I always enjoy the history behind these cars. Thanks for taking the time to recite it for us. Keep us posted on the restoration.

FE Technical Forum / Re: 1966 LTD 352 got questions.

The information you provided is not terribly specific, you'd be better off posting up the data plate. Someone here could probably decode it and tell you a lot more information. I'll take a stab at helping you but this information is only as good as "...66 LTD with a 352 and a automatic...," my available specs, and my memory.

The 352 in that year/model was a 2 barrel.

The transmission was usually Cruise-O-Matic MX/FX (I think it's the one we used to refer to as an FMX) which is the cast iron case with a separate bellhousing. A C-6 was available as an option (whether it was available with a 352 and/or part of a towing package, I don't know).

You asked about towing packages, unless you can identify a specific part that's unique to the package, find a build sheet in the car, or an original invoice we may never know. Towing packages back then were usually stiffer springs, a heavier radiator, and (maybe) a bigger alternator. I don't know the specs on that particular car but limited slip diffs were not the norm in 1966 except for high performance variants.

Our daughter lives in the prime viewing area in SC. We'll be going there. Thinking about taking the E-450 motorhome just because of the crowding authorities are anticipating all through and near the viewing area throughout the Southeast.

Yes Jay, thank you!

I frequent both forums although I've noticed a gradual change over time, now I spend much more time here. Simply, the information available is much better. As much as I'd like to, I doubt I'll ever build another FE but I've had plenty of experience through the 60's, 70's, and even into the 80's so it's very interesting to follow the "rebirth" of one of my favorite as well as historically significant engine.

Thanks again,
Lou

Thanks for passing that along! Looks like an easy and inexpensive to build FE!

Our sincerest condolences and prayers go out to you and your family. What a fitting way to honor your son. Wish I could be at DW 2017 to shake your hand.

If it is under 1 pound, you can ship USPS First Class PackageĀ® reasonably. I'm not sure if there is a size restriction but a package big enough to fit the label on is more than large enough for a distributor gear.
