It would be easy to add a 1/2 leaf you can find single leafs at summit they are availabe to add height or lift on trucks .You just need to find one the same 21/2" width as yours .I had a spring shop make such a set of springs for my 66 comet . They (Landrum springs) built my springs with a 1/2 leaf going forward almost to the spring eye .Worked for me . I dont understand why you just dont try adding a bit of preload 1/4 turn wont hurt you .Doug

The easiest thing to do would be adding 1/4-1/2 turn of preload and that is free! My 67 comet has the complete Calvert rear suspension it has worked good for me Calverts adjustable shocks are a good addition too.Try giving it some preload and remember you have two holes for the bar maybe try the upper hole it is supposed to hit harder. On a good day I have gotten a 1.46 60ft.But I have fighting traction issues since I installed a bigger(502 460 based) engine in my car .But I have been getting good results with playing around with different settings.Good luck.Doug

On my 66 comet I went with a disc setup off a 69 torino wagon it fit perfectly .You will need different hoses and I used a non power master cylinder from a mustang II application.I went with a Wilwood proportioning valve instead of a factory style .Worked great !Doug

Frydaddy it isn't so hard to do .Dropping the oil pump makes this an easier job you can only get the engine up so high .You need to watch how close the fan is to the radiator and probably remove the fan shroud or just loosen it .If you try leave the oil pump on the engine has to really go up .I have a 66 comet also I pulled the pan more than once .If I can do it so can you just don't get in a hurry .And if this is something you really need to do you have no choice so just be patient .Maybe Rory mentioned it in his post I cant remember but the sway bar has to go also .Good luck and again it isn't so difficult it just sounds like it is Doug

Like others have said getting your engine up high enough is necessary .And just go on and drop the oil pump into the pan you don't need to so high whenever you do that .My comet has headers so maybe that is why I dropped the pump .On your blocks for holding the engine up shorter pieces of wood or steel work good there isn't a whole lot of room for anything long .This is a tough job but it can be done .The great advantage is that flat oil pan simple and easy. Good luck Doug
