So I pulled all the pistons/ rods out of this guy. Bearings still look really great in this engine. The pistons are on the tight side of the engine bore.
I started to look at all the cylinders and noticed on the number 6 hole that it got water in there some time ago. I also noticed the pistons are .020 over. So getting rings here on time would be a bear... I was planning on buying a new set of rings for this. But after seeing that cylinder and a couple others, I'll stick with the cast rings that I already have.
So as you can see I did some oil mods to the block. You look at the mains. Number 1, 2 and 4 the oil galley holes don't line up. Die grinder could fix this really easy. Also with the oil filter adapter there is another plate sandwich between the block and the oil filter adapter. You could see that I have rounded them for flow.
Next using an old cheesy ball hone and went to work on the cylinders... A lot of them cleaned up very nice and look really good. I used penetrating oil as I horned out the walls.
For the deck of the block. I used my super scrapers the clean up the deck. And followed up with using 80 grit sandpaper, I used a big long block sander. Remember this is a backyard build that you could do and in your own garage .
As you can see. I will be doing some oil mods to this. A little clean up
