I've previously had my '63 Merc on my regular insurance, but need to add a second "classic" and looking into specialty insurance. Quote from Hagerty to insure my Merc and a '90 Saleen Mustang is $998/yr. Seems really high for collector cars, no? Values were $25k and $23k respectively. Anyone mind letting me know what you're paying for vehicles of similar value? I feel like most guys are in the $400/yr range.

Mine is only on storage insurance right now, so it's super cheap in comparison, but make sure that they aren't quoting you the "drivers club". It's basically an extra $120 a year that they charge you to receive their monthly magazine and "invites to exclusive events". I caught that in their first quote and had them drop it.

Grundy quoted me $381 for both of them per year, so I went that way.

I use Hagerty for my Mach 1 and the Galaxie. My premium is about $750 for the year, no driving restrictions on mileage. I'm not sure why yours is so high, but I can assure you my total coverage is far greater than $48k. You might want to look into the policy details closely to find out why yours would be so high. Maybe location has something to do with it?

My '55 Thunderbird with Hagerty stated value of $28K plus towing pkg, $293.00 year. No mileage handicap. Joe-JDC

Grundy, aka Philadelphia Insurance Co, has me at under $475 year, no restrictions, for my '70 Mach 1 and '88 5.0 Stang. Declared value at $38K for the '70, $22K for the '88 w/o even looking at my policy. Now, that said, here in suburban Chicago neither leaves the garage for about 5 winter months. Mileage then is very low per year.
