Private Classifieds / 445 STROKER FOR SALE
« on: May 16, 2024, 02:40:42 PM »
Hello guys, been lurking here for years and learned so much about FE's.  I built a 445 stoker based on all the great builds shared on this site with the intention to install it in my 69 Rcode Mach 1.  but, I have sold the car and now my hot engine is all dressed up and no where to go.  I live in Colo Springs Co. and I am not building any new projects, so it needs to go.  See my local craigslist ad here:

I just turned 65 and have been in car dealerships my whole career since 1978.  I work in the parts dept in a Cadillac store and parts availability has been an ongoing nightmare for 3 years for a variety of reasons (IT problems at GM, UAW strike, COVID) and it is getting worse rather than better,  I agree that many of my generation have left or are leaving their fields ASAP and our replacements are not up to the task.  We are constantly needing techs, the young guys we get are just not experienced enough or hungry enough or something enough to get it done.  The brain drain in our store has been dramatic, we have aged out all the veterans in all areas and it is a mess now.  I have so many cars down and waiting for sometimes months for a part that kills our business is so many ways.  Heck, we can barely get any new inventory to sell on the New Car showroom.  Ugh!

Excellent photography!  I see the last 2 cars (68 mustang and 67 Fairlane) both have the same NHRA number? Driver sell one of his cars and replace it with another?

I've known Rob for many years and I last saw him last summer when he set up my BBM heads.  He has had a tough time in recent years.  He lost the lease on the building he had been in for a long time and had a very short time frame to vacate the shop and he had to store a ton of stuff in short order. He set up a smaller shop in some vacant space at a friends auto repair shop and was trying to recover.  He and his wife split at about the time too.  His right hand man was sidelined by medical problems and Rob was having health issues too.  He is a great guy, but if this really happened, that would probably put most guys out of business.  So sorry for him and his customers.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / DOWELL PIN REMOVAL
« on: December 16, 2020, 05:57:34 PM »
Hey guys...my stroker project needs a steel dowel that presses into the block on the pass side that aligns the block plate and C6 trans.  It is just missing and I wonder how one removes one of these from a core engine without destroying it in the removal process.  Any tricks?

Thanks for the responses guys!  I did go around and snug everything down some more, seems like as you heat cycle the engine the first few times, the gaskets compress or something. Does anyone re torque the intake after some run time?  I am going to the dyno and we will keep an eye on it to see if anything changes.  Think I will add some oil dye this go around.  Stew
