FE Engine Dyno Results / Re: 449 stroker
« on: July 07, 2022, 01:40:18 PM »
A little over 550 over the nose as I recall. The distributor started having a intermittent miss after 6. Is a plug and play pertronix Billet flame thrower 2 . That we have determined was the cause of it. I'm going swap distributor to either a MSD or a OEM . Wand a cd box. Called pertronix and they think it's the module since it's over 2 yrs old.

Thank you Chris I appreciate that . That's been my dilemma, if the build gets hotter, then does diffences increase?

Blair did all the head work. Sent him bare castings. His combo on them . The intake we did here , but could have had him it. Had to mill it .045 to fit the heads  and yes had to massage some of the pushrod hole a little bit on the bottom and the top. Blair cut the heads .120 if I remember correctly, to bring up the compression with the dish pistons. Worked out nicely with .020 valve clearance . Lift at valve was .686& . 703 I believe +/. -

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Dura spark it is .I have a couple on hand. So will get it set up. It's what I went with on my son's highboy with the pertronix digital hp cd box .no issues with it but he doesn't turn it past 6000. Hence the question.will post the specs over on the Dyno page from before the upcoming dist swap later today

Is there any advantage to running a MSD distributor instead of the dura spark with a aftermarket cd box ?
Have a pertronix 2 plug and play billetright now and noticed a intermittent miss between 6000&7000 rpm when dynoing.
Have narrow it down to the distributor in my 449stroker.

23
Absolutely, could also do a  3.98 stroke,or a 4.120 stroke. With either on a scat Crank and still retain the internal balance. For instance I went with a 4.25 scat Crank and cnc'd bbm heads and trick flow intake and a dish pistons. 600+ n/a all day long.

24
It's definitely doable, still tweeking and tuning on mine

I put one on my 449 stroker that going in my 75 F100. I added a couple of gated baffels  a inch or better in front of pickup tube just for insurance

FE Technical Forum / Exhaust port spacing

Not sure if this would be allowed here, but does anyone know what the difference is in the exhaust port spacing between the FE and a 385 series header. Was thinking about swapping out the header flanges on a set of 460 headers to work on my 390 stroker

Very nice, those tunnel rams are just plain sexy ,lol
