Your first response sounded like you would prefer to run a "60's car". I apologize for trying to help, won't do it again....

I think he is saying the early Falcons are too light. A friend of mine may still have a 69 Falcon 2 door that was a pretty decent car. The curb weight on them are supposedly in the 2800 # range.

My vote with your money would be an old Falcon or Fairlane.

You may have missed it but I mentioned on the FE Forum that your best bet is probably a 205/70. Even they are recommended for a minimum 6" rim, so anything above that such as the 215 is worse. The 205/70 is only slightly shorter than the 245/60, but about 1.5" narrower. I think that is probably the largest tire that will fit the car and on the 5.5" KH rim.

Lol, you can find a way to turn any post into an argument and never pass up an opportunity to be condescending.  :o :o

A factory FE flywheel does have a "depth mark" on them and you can also somewhat go by the bevel on the edge.

That "bevel" is a "depth mark" set forth by the O.E. as a guide for the re-machining of the flywheel?   ???

     Scott.

🤣 smh

FE Technical Forum / Re: Valve clearance
« on: August 07, 2022, 07:09:17 PM »
Ashamed to see how much time has passed on this and I am just now taking steps forward. Below is a link to my post on the old forum with a couple pictures showing a MR head on a 4.16" bore.

One thing I noticed reading back over the responses, they seemd to all be referring to LR valve spacing, and I'm using a MR head. So the results I got were the exhaust valve touches the wall around .675" lift, and the intake is clear until you get over 1" lift.

I apologize for those interested in the picture using the link, but much easier posting pictures there.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Drivetrain loss
« on: July 24, 2022, 08:48:13 AM »
I went back and reread some of the Ford internal documents Dennis posted on the CJ site and the numbers do support the C6 drivetrain losses. In SS/G class the 68 CJ stick cars (with relocated battery) were 3 tenths quicker (11.4 vs 11.7) than the automatic cars. But tests for competition in all the other classes, the stick cars were only a tenth quicker. So appears they had to figure out how to get the "extra" power to the ground in the stick cars.

I did realize the C6 was a big power hog. But what doesn't completely make since to me is the muscle car era time slips. For instance, the Ford numbers showed the 68 CJ automatic cars as fast or faster than the 4 speed cars. I assume this had a lot to do with traction technology, but you would think that loss would be hard to overcome.

If they were a set of 63's I would gladly take them off your hands. The 64's seem to be more plentiful.
