Member Projects / Clutch master cylinder.

I've decided to go with a hydraulic throw out bearing in my 66 Mustang project.  Has anyone come up with a clever way to rig up the master cylinder on the pedal assembly inside the car?  I'm just not crazy about putting it on the firewall next to the brake master cylinder.

I like https://www.mcmaster.com/ If they don't have it there it probably doesn't exist.

I thought the whole point of these military specs (Army/Navy) when they were implemented was to standardize things, so that there wouldn't be any variations in size/fit from different suppliers?

I believe you're correct on that point, but as materials and needs change that kind of went out the window.  I bought some Earl's Speed Flex house and the fittings are very different from the conventional stuff.  I highly recommend Speed Flex by the way.  If that information is out there it'll probably be at the link below.

Fluid Film is an amazing product.  A must have for salty New England winters...  It's available in 55 gallon drums up here.

I stand corrected.  I believe it was to cheat displacement not compression.

I think I read about a mod like that once.  If I remember correctly, it was used somehow to bleed off compression during a tech inspection.  The bolt (possibly with a hole in it) is hidden under the header.  A small leak will bleed off compression at cranking speed but won't matter much when the engine is screaming.

I guess I shouldn't feel so guilty about the pile I have into mine...

I'm putting an FE in a '66 Mustang.  I'm using the Canton road race pan and as I'm trying to locate the engine I was also wondering what an acceptable ground clearance would be.  Regardless of which pan is used, what is a good worry free clearance 4"?

Seeing them side by side, that TW is a big set of shoes to fill!

As I check up on this thread every day I wonder the same thing.  The thought is good.... but it would be nice to see both manifolds run on the same engine.

We have equipment here at the shop with a 4,5,6 groove pully.  It was explained to me that when they make belts they are made in one big sheet and cut apart into individual belts.  If you buy matched sets they are just belts that were consecutive numbers on that big sheet.  If you look at the numbers after the part number and get some that are close together it helps.  Of course a specialty belt place will have a bunch to pick through.

We used to use the Amsoil premix oil in our 2 stroke racing engines mixed at 100:1 as opposed to every other oil at 32:1.  Worked fantastic.
