FE Technical Forum / Re: piston skirt clearance

Run it, .0055 sounds big by today's standards, and of course it may have a little piston slap, but I bet you won't even notice it.

I fully agree! I’ve dealt with a customer one time where he had a machine shop do the same thing. Never even noticed it.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Cleaning a machined block before assembly?
« on: September 09, 2023, 09:55:09 AM »
I do the same. Liquid dish soap, Tied, car soap… In hot water and I use a toilet brush in the cylinders. Just like Ross, pressure wash all the oil galleys, coolant passages. Use compressed air to dry it.

Than for the cylinder bores. I use lent free towels, break clean. Scrub them out a few times with that. Then I’ll use a light penetrating oil and a let free cloth a couple more times. You will be shocked on how much grit comes out of the cylinder walls after being at the machine shop. Crazy!!!

That’s Awesome Jay! So nice to see some of this stuff to be made again with more modern updates done to them. As the iron stuff is all beat up. To include intakes. Anyways… Very Nice work Jay!!! As always

I use speedy sleeves all the time. I mix up some JB weld, fill in the groove and while it still wet. Drive the sleeve on! Works very well. JMHO

I never have that problem with Mr Gasket springs. I get it to come in when I want. I’ve done a ton of FE distributors over the years. And the advance rate is close to being spot on!  It I do quite of bit of blueprinting to the distributor….

Some of the best Scraper you will ever use! I’m going to do another mass order again here real soon. So if you would like to pre order a set... Get a hold of me.

I use them on my Automotive stuff all the time. As you can see. Doesn’t scratch the surface but it will knock down any high spots. Nice thing is, doesn’t scratch aluminum! So cleaning off gaskets and making sure you have a nice surface to work with is a MAJOR plus!

Also you can use these for other home type projects. Scraping paint, glue and so on endless and better than any razor blade!  Lifetime Guarantee!

They will sharpen them for free! You just have to pay for the ride back is all!

All prices include shipping to the 48 states but I will ship overseas but the shipping will be more.

SS-1   1 1/4” wide $36

SS-2   2” wide $45

SS-5   5/8”wide $30

Or all 3 for a set $105

FE Technical Forum / Re: Face book fe fanatics garage sale

Even for a chance to find some FE parts I won't join Facebook. Shame to have a "garage sale" for the FE community and not post it here.

And vice a versa. It’s a two way street

I would rather use a newer oil. Much better than the days of the old per say. You can find high zinc stuff and the additive packages are so much better then the 80’s. JMHO

No head porting then... So a nail head valve or a tulip valve on the intake? 45 degree deal!?

FE Technical Forum / Re: Vacuum Advance Eliminator/Lockout Plate
« on: October 17, 2019, 06:23:50 PM »
He was talking about locking the breaker plate. Not the mechanical advance. I have spot welded the plate for some guys that wanted to do away with the vacuum advance. Or you can leave the vacuum canister hooked up.
