FE Technical Forum / Re: Gauging Interest - Tunnelport Heads

I have read through this a couple of times and I hope I didn't miss this. Will you be offering intake manifolds for your heads? I know with some searching tunnel port intakes can be found but having one or two choices ( my vote is for the single plane dual four C7OE-9424-A) would make this an easier for guys to make the purchase, in my opinion. I would also wonder if Jays intake adapter would open up some choices for other "tops" too??

I will give U S Body Source a second on their quality. I have a flat hood I bought for my 68 Mustang that is very nice- straight with a good fit. I have had friends who have bought from them for other makes and are satisfied customers. Over the years I have had a lot of fiberglass from a lot of suppliers and it all needs work some more than others but it is not a black art like some make it out to be. You may want to contact U S Body Source and see if they have more than what they list on their website. I believe they have several molds for parts not listed. Good luck!

Brent just giving you a hard time for painting such a cool piece, if it isn't polished Ford blue is the way to go! Really enjoying the build - looking forward to hearing it run!

Joe, I bought my 68 fastback from a racer friend who wanted to go faster so he switched to a Fox body. His Dad was an engine builder and used dimples to achieve better torque and horsepower. He also stated that it helped prevent "fuel puddling" by keeping the air fuel mixture "broken up". Do you remember the Turtle inserts that Offenhauser made?? I always wondered if they would achieve the same effect in a big single plane..?? you could even dimple them..

Very cool car Mike one of my favorites, sure like the design of those. There was a black on black one in my area when I was younger and he had painted steel wheels with the dog dish caps very nice look. The back wheels were a little wider so big cool factor.

There is now where I can pick up a catalog and order a block, heads, or intake I want at a reasonable price and receive it in a reasonable amount of time. So how many years will it take to put my dream engine together for my 67 GT500 clone ??? We will never know...

Yeah the government and EPA get involved they kill a lot of great products that work! The red oxide epoxy that I used for two builds got discontinued the replacement product didn't work as well and was only available in gray >:(!

I forgot to mention if you do put the car on a rotisserie you can build some simple braces that triangulate between the upper/lower door hinges and the door striker like a V. You can buy them but for the cost of some material and your skill it wouldn't take long to fabricate a set which would add some strength.

All blasting procedures have there drawback that's where doing your research and asking fellow enthusiasts pays off then deciding what works best for you. I had my 70 Mustang blasted with sand by a friend who has done several cars. He used an industrial blaster but was very skilled with it - no warping. However cleaning out the sand was a nightmare! I have used Eastwood epoxy and like it but would like to make everyone aware of  the epoxy primers available from Southern Polyurethanes. Really cool product- allows for seven days to recoat, apply body fillers, or topcoat. Jay I am with you on leaving as much good original sheet metal as possible especially on quarter panels. I used a full reproduction quarter on my 68 fastback and the lines were terrible! I cut and reshaped much of it to match the passengers side which was original.

Brent, try doing a Google search for oval wardrobe tubing !! Believe it or not it is available in 5/8 -30mm H -15mm W length can be specified. Price is around $25.00 for a 30 inch piece. You say you need it for clearance but K&S Precision Metals has a streamlined tube that is available in 5/8 and 3/4 not sure but the shape may offer a flow advantage ?? Hope this helps..

Jay, since you plan a FE Power SOHC head have you considered being a supplier for the parts that are still available from the machine shop that still makes the Munro parts?
