FE Technical Forum / Re: 360 horse 352

I went to Dad's and dug around and found what we believe to be an original 352-360 camshaft.  If someone is putting together a group of camshafts for the Cam Doctor we would be more than willing to send it to be checked.  Just let me know and we will send it your way.

Yup, I gotta agree.....  Lots of literary majors on here I guess....

Not to be a literary major but...

An English major would study grammar.  A Literary major studies published works.  And notice the capitalization of English and Literary, as they are proper nouns.
Who knew so many scholars were into FEs....

I had no idea it would cause a reaction. I’ve used prolly as a folksy side of probably. Guess I won’t anymore.
Ya know what gets me going is someone asking a legit  :) question about motors and it devolves into a grammar lesson.

Awe c’mon

Great thread guys!  I haven't been around in awhile but I really enjoyed this thread!  Keep up the 352-360 & 390-375/401 talk!!  We will be building a 390-330 this winter and a 390-375 after that....

Thanks to everyone who attended the 2018 FERR. I truly believe this was the biggest/best one yet. This really has become an international event with FE enthusiasts attending from all over the world. My only regret is that I was unable to spend more time talking with everyone and just hanging out. Thanks to Beaver Bob McCardle and Mike A Mccracken for all of their hard work and effort that helped make this the greatest gathering of FE's ever. Thanks again to everyone and spread the word about the event You all are the best advertisement that we have!! See you all next year!!!

I recently heard Mr. Pond has bought both John Cooper and John Calvert's NHRA stocker T-bolts.  Did you happen to see them?

FE Technical Forum / 2018 FE Race & Reunion VIP Sponsorship
« on: February 26, 2018, 05:13:04 PM »
A note from Beaver Bob McCardle regarding VIP Sponsorships at the FERR 2018: FE Friends. Even though I've sold the Beaver, I'm still handling the promotion and running of this event. The $100 VIP Sponsorship program is a go for 2018. For you $100 you get: Two spectator tickets, (1 Friday and 1 for Saturday) a voucher for 2 event shirts and a $10 voucher for food. Your name will be displayed and you'll get mentions over the PA during the event. Note: If you're a racer, you get a credit towards race entry. Make checks payable to BSD, 3521 Dressler Ridge Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853. Look to see everyone here. It's going to be another great event with our famous, Brats, Beer and beans on Friday, 4-27. The new flyer will be out next weekend. Beaver Bob McCardle.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Engine diapers for FE engines
« on: February 13, 2018, 08:54:00 AM »
NHRA does not enforce this for FE powered cars in Stock & Super Stock at National events.  I know someone who runs a FE powered SS car and he basically told me this. To be honest I don't think they enforce it for any of those cars no matter what brand. All you need to do is to look at starting line photos from last weeks Winter Nationals.  None of the fast SS or S class cars have diapers.  They realize it is basically impossible for these shock tower cars to have room for these stupid diapers.  I know it is all about safety but you simply can't put these things on every car.  We all don't have chassis cars or SBC Camaros....

We've raced these cars for 50 years with parts that are way less quality than they are now but now all of the sudden there is an issue.  IMHO the only cars this should be required on is power adder type cars.  Very few fast naturally aspirated cars oil the track ever.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Shelby standard block question
« on: December 11, 2017, 10:36:30 AM »
There is a reason NHRA Pro Stock engine builders use iron blocks in place of aluminum.  The weight savings is not worth the horsepower loss because of the loss of ring seal and block squirm.  An iron block will always make more power than an aluminum block.  If weight is a huge concern then you have to weigh your options.

FE Technical Forum / 2017 FERR Thank You!!!
« on: May 01, 2017, 04:39:18 PM »
Thanks to everyone who attended the 2017 Race & Reunion. My only regret about the entire event is that I couldn't spend more time talking to everyone who was there! I felt like one minute I was pulling in Friday morning and the next I was pulling out Saturday evening!

It was an honor to receive the "Best of Show" award with my '61 Fairlane. It is so "new" that we just had the front end aligned Thursday morning and it still has break in oil in the engine. There were so many cool cars there!! Thanks again to everyone who voted for my car!!

I promise next year that I will bring the "Trouble Maker"!! I must have been asked 30 times where it was. LOL It was ready to go but I really wanted to show off my shiney new toy!!

Thanks to Bob, Donna and Doug, Dan, Red and all of the sponsors for making the 2017 FERR the best and biggest event so far. The event continues to grow and planning for next year has already started. 2018 is going to be great!!! Please tell a friend or 5 about the event. Word of mouth is the best advertising that we have. What started out as a dream of mine in 2011 has turned into one of the premier car events in the country. I really want us to break 200 FEs next year!!

Remember this isn't a Ford event, it is a FE event!!!

Thanks again and see you all in 2018!!!
