Air Fuel Meters
« on: April 15, 2024, 03:52:18 PM »
It’s been years since I played with the original Innovate handheld a/f meter, it was a great help tuning my cars at the time.  It’s since crapped out and won’t function even with a new oxygen sensor.

I’d like to use a simple “gauge” style now, I’d tune up a couple cars but don’t plan to keep them in the car as they look out of place.  Any suggestions for simple gauges that you guys have used with success?  Just want to fiddle around a bit this summer and optimize tune in cruise/transition/WOT, cars run good but I know from experience that you can find quite a bit in the part throttle once you hook up a gauge.  Lots of choices now but wanted to see what is easy to use.

I put an AEM in that I got on sale at Amazon.
I think the big deal is get a good O2 sensor. Bosch is the good one.
I seen 13.2 at cruise speed then broke the rocker shaft
watching what would happen when I repeatedly kept going to 6000 rpm.
It goes lower than 13.2 ::)

I've had poor luck with Bosch wideband O2 sensors, they seem to wear out quickly.  Ballenger Motorsports makes a good unit, and you can upgrade to an NTK sensor, which I have found last a lot longer than the Bosch.

Appreciate the feedback, I’ll look into it.  I killed at least one Bosch with very little use so can believe they’re suspect
