'69 Cobra Jet Emblems?
« on: August 05, 2020, 09:32:05 AM »
I have been designing billet mounting brackets, supports, etc for various components in our '69 Mach 1.  In one case, I had the '69 "Cobra Jet" cursive emblem CNC'd into the center radiator bracket I designed, which turned out awesome.  Who knows, maybe there is a market for them.  I figure designing around $200M in systems should qualify me to make a few brackets...   ;D

I am working on a dash plaque to cover the switch holes that were (unfortunately) drilled into it a few years back.  Was there an official Cobra Jet symbol for 1969?

I see the 1968 version.

1969 only seems to have the cursive emblem.

There are the modern Cobra-Jet emblems, but I don't know if it would be tacky to use that design.

The car is lightly resto-modded, except for the interior. Any opinions?

+1 I like the 68 version the best. The 69 Fairlane Cobras had a snake as well.

Hmmm
I like the ‘68 also.
I’m thinking it might be fun on the glove box door of my ‘67 since I’m hoping to drop a CJ into it.
Might be worth some quizzical looks from passers by.

Does anyone know the story behind "Cobra Jet"?

I always thought it sounded like a flatulent snake whenever it came up in conversation, even back in my teenage years.

I'm also leaning towards the '68 emblem.  That would be easy to vectorize and machine.

I don't know the story, but I think your theory would make for a good rumor... haha
