Old Transmission Question...

I have a question about a transmission that has sat for the last 10 years. Its the love/hate TH350 transmission that had worked flawlessly, then the car was parked. Now the car will be driven again, so is there anything I should do to see if the seals are good and if the transmission will hold up? 

I've heard that seals will dry out after extended periods of sitting, so other than a fluid change, any other recommendations or additive recommendations?

There are additives available to help with softening up transmission seals, but since I'm strictly a manual guy, I can't give any advice on which to use. I'm not sure anything can preserve a TH350 though. The only one I ever owned (30 years ago) left me stranded on the side of the road. That was the one and only time I ever drove a GM product. Working for a transmission shop back in the '80s, I'll bet 80+% of the transmissions we did were TH350s. 'Nuff said.
