Cylinder head orentation
« on: November 09, 2017, 05:56:15 PM »
67 Mustang, 390,GT heads (C7AE-A) I am ready to place the heads back on the block and I noticed that one end of the heads has 2 tapped holes. I am thinking that these are for mounting accessories? Should they both be facing the front of the engine or is one supposed to face the rear? Driver side or passenger side. I did not tear the engine down so, I have no clue!

Both heads should have the same tapped holes.   Heads are interchangeable....if the holes are on the front of the driver's side head, then they would be on the rear if you swapped that head to the passenger side.   In the same token, the passenger side heads will have holes on the rear of it, but if you swapped it to the driver's side, the holes would be on the front.  Make sense?

Thanks. Makes perfect sense now that I look at it!
