I was looking at putting an under dash unit in my '65 Mustang but don't really have the room for a conventional compressor. But I found a universal electric unit on EBay but I don't know if it would be big enough to effectively run an under dash a/c unit.

I'm planning on trying out a full kit from these guys in one of my cars, as well as one of their compressors that I hope to use with a vintage air evaporator in my 1964 Galaxie:

I have not bought anything yet though.  Just another avenue for you to consider.

I looked on their website. Looks pretty promising. I am not sure how much international shipping would entail. They show them being installed in Porsches so maybe they are not ChiCom units.

66 amp current draw. Yikes! At that rate, it seems like you'd need a dedicated 100+ amp alternator just for the compressor.

Alan, I take it you didn't go to RMRW? I looked at results of day 1 and didn't see your name anyplace.

a/c in the Mustang will likely remain a pipe dream looking at how much it will end up costing. No I didn't make it to RMRW 1.0. I didn't get preregistered and was going to just show up to see if I could get in but I decided to paint my house instead. fun fun. I am registered for RMRW 2.0 in September.

We had a Fusion Hybrid for several years and the electric AC compressor worked pretty darn good. Of course, it had those mondo lithium batteries in the tail end to use.
