crank rant
« on: February 18, 2020, 02:57:24 PM »
So today I went to get two "390's"... one  is freshly machined but all apart and been sitting out in the weather (mostly wet) for six months. I got it home and of course the crank turns out to be a 2T... another damned 360 crank I have five to get rid of now. There is also a whole engine sitting there complete I have to go back with the engine hoist to get. It has a rear sump 4x4 pan and as I recall there 4x4's are all 360's and no 390's, is that correct?

I believe all 4x4s were 360. There is always that chance that the motor has been swapped out at some time over the course of its 40yrs. Good luck!

Certainly all bumpside 4x4s were 360s. I don't know if they put any 390s in dentside 4x4s.

Probably the most valuable part there would be the oil pan and the pickup!

Part of the reason next engine is a 360. Just because. No real reason justifiable reason, and probably (defiantly) dumb to leave cubes on the table. Tossed 3 usable 352/360 cranks out last fall kinda hurt to do it too.

All 4x4 trucks dent or bump where 360's or straight 6.

Those 4x4 pans are good and great for swaps. Anybody have an extra dipstick tube and tube you want to shake loose?
