FE Technical Forum / Got to do some testing Saturday
« on: October 01, 2018, 11:33:34 AM »
Here's some videos from testing Saturday at Ubly Dragway, I entered a 10.5 tire NO ET shootout, finished third, I lost trip to final against Silver Malibu on a Holeshot, sleeping on a .400 Pro Tree. He has a 582 BBC went 5.71 to my 5.64 both of has went 123 mph and change. His .09? bulb to my.234 got him the win. Went a string of 5.65s, very happy with car! Need to work on 60' as it should do better than 1.28 and 1.29 even crossing scale at 3125 lbs. More seat time will help as well.....Al

Hi Steve, Sorry to hear of your mis-fortunes! You did do a Great job lowering your Et, your Comet looks awesome in that picture! Good Luck on your decision over the next few months in what to purchase. Those 30" tall tires must of been fun getting to fit, also if you change axles just get 35 spline and a good spool, you don't drive enough on the street to worry much, in my opinion. Take Care....Al

Well I had a Great Time this year myself!  It was great meeting Tom P. and Rory McNeil enjoyed the visits and was glad to see you two having a good time. Steve M. was nice talking and getting to see your bad ass Comet run too! Great visit with Jay, and to see so many people hanging at his tent of parts! Barry, Jason Vosburgh, Larry and several others I also got to talk with too, so much to do and not much time.  Doug I looked around for you Fri. and early Sat. and then figured you didn't gamble on the weather, to bad you missed it, but won't rub it in too much you already know the good time had in Beaver Springs....
Getting to visit Blair and Vernon was super as well, pictures do not do Vernons car justice, Tim Lyons has TALENT. I really look forward to seeing the other gentleman with the 65'Falcon Marco chassis, and one of Blairs bullets in it next year, and your T-Bolt is beautiful!......................Al

Testing went well good job, after seeing pictures during build, reading Tim Lyons article on the build using all top shelf parts and getting under or at 2600 lbs with driver, plus the FE you spoke of in November I knew that thing would be fast, hope you get the converter back in time for some more testing! Again great job Vernon, Blair, and Tim Lyons Chassis shop...........Al

Jay I also tow with a F150 Crew FX4 2011 3.5 ECO, I went with an aluminum NEO built in S.West lower MI original builder of Dominator Trailers. 28 foot V-nose with cabinets weighs 3100#, 5200 Dexter axles pulls like a dream, truck acts like it is not back there! Doug made great choice getting wide side door, I also put added height diamond plate on front for stones, and for just a few dollars upgraded to swivel tie-downs that have much higher # rating also...I got one piece rounded roof with side vents so no worries on leaks, a exterior loading light really helps out back too! Blair made great statement on stepping up to the 8 lug axles, my next will have them. .....Good luck in your choice....................Al

Another thought Rory,   Fly into Detroit rent a car, leave Thurs. morning for PA, travel the road through Mountain(slow curves, small Amish towns and end up in Beaver Springs past track into Selinsgrove for room and travel back same route Sunday and see more Amish out and about for church, and have Monday Tuesday in Detroit for Henry Ford Museum, Barrys shop, maybe even contact John Vermeesch for a tour of Total Performance! The trip has great views as I've made it 3 times now from a couple hrs. north of Detroit............Al
