i changed from a msd box to a gm type module and now my timing is 3 degree higher 33 to 36 total.i have a msd distributor with the black bushing in it.question is ,do i change to the blue bushing or whatever color 3 degree is or do i just retard the timing 3 degree.i noticed the extra timing is making it hard to hot start.

That is common for it to pick up timing when changing to an HEI module. Roll your initial back to where it was.

After you pull 3* out of the initial what will your initial be at?

Don't the bushings just limit total advance? So if you switched bushings, I think it would still be 3 degrees advanced at idle but have less total mechanical timing. I agree - just set the initial back to where you had it.

I get it now,my int was 15 total 33,now its int 18 total 36.if i back the int down to 15 again the rest will be back where it was at.i dont know why but i was thinking the bushing was the int instead of how much it advances.
