Title: Jog my memory - Erson Adjusters
Post by: DuckRyder on June 21, 2020, 06:50:07 AM
So on build number 1 I had issues with pushrods and adjusters.

Smith Brothers suggested an increased size ball and cup. Once again I can no longer read the invoice.

What would have been the typical upgrade there 10-15 years ago?

Related question:

Any one make an adjuster with a smaller nut (a lower profile adjuster)?

you can get the harland sharp adjusters and smaller nuts on there website.i think they all use a 5/16 cup size.or the fe with a 3/8 ball.not cheap parts.they are quality parts.http://www.harlandsharp.com/component.htm

Thanks,

Guess I better get the tools out and measure.

Those do look nice if I can determine the ball size I need.

Maybe I don't understand the question but I just looked up the HS rockers to confirm the ball size and found it to be 3/8".

My original person adjusters failed.

My recollection is that Smith Brothers talked me into upsizing the balls because i was replacing the pushrods too.

So i guess the question is are the original Erson adjusters smaller than 3/8 or are mine larger... (alternately am i remembering wrong and there is no issue at all)

Aside from length differences in specific builds, I think the Ersons just use stock cup ends.  I certainly haven't used anything else on my two sets

Got it figured out.

They are 3/16 radius, which = 3/8 diameter ball ...

Quote from: pushrods.net
5/32" Radius = 5/16" Diameter
3/16" Radius = 3/8" Diameter
9/64" Radius = 9/32" Diameter

The Harland Sharp adjusters work perfectly.

I used the Harland Sharp adjusters in my Erson's because they are a little more precise. The HS ball is the closest to .375". The Crane and Erson are a little smaller and you can even feel it moving the adjuster in a pushrod end by hand.
