I always thought it was called Mopar because that is how rednecks say "More Power"

Was there a 69 Challenger?  I thought they started in 70...

It's a Mopar. It was probably 1 of 10  ;D ;D

I remember that it was a Challenger, so it must have been a '70 or maybe even a '71. What can I say, I'm a Ford guy ::)

Gee, next thing somebody will say is that they knew someone with a '65 Dodge Charger.

Not a stab at Doug, just wanted to see if anybody knew that the first "Charger" was indeed a submodel of the '65 Dart., the year before the B-Body Charger arrived. Evidently nobody knew that, so I get Mo points.

Jericho Jeff was busy working on his race car this weekend, so I don't know if he has been keeping up on this thread. I have tried stumping him on Mopar trivia before and have been unsuccessful, so we'll have to see what he says on the '65 Dart Charger. You got me curious though, I found a link:

Hopefully this comes up in a trivia contest someday so I can put it to some use.

People who fawn over my every word [cough...puke] will remember me mention a friend's '65 Dart back in the day. This was, in fact, a Charger, although heavily modified. Built 360 with MVB A727 and 5.38's, street-only. Taking a cue from the then-new movie, Clockwork Orange, this Dart was shot with orange pearl with typical 70's custom paint panels, and the rear fenders were VERY flaired to contain the 12.50 x 30 drag slicks that were its only tires. On the doors or rear quarters (can't remember which) it had "Clockwork" painted on it. Snorkel scoop and the original black vinyl top. We had a friend with an AMX 500 Special (Big Bad Green covered with gray primer) that used to get 115-octane green gas from a circle-track supplier in 55-gallon drums (outrageously priced at 65 cents per gallon). With that sauce in the tank and the timing cranked up, the Dart could pull both pizza-cutter Centerlines off the ground with little effort.

I could only hope that car survived and shows up on a barn find vid some day, but I kinda don't think it will.

I know where there is a -66 Charger  "Barnfind" in a old truck garage
Red with white shadowed panelpaint cromereverse wheels with flat
Pos - A - Traction N50 - 15 tires a new never started 440 Magnum. been there
since winter of -82 when the original engine freeze cracked
The guy who owns it wanted a red Corvette. So his dad bought him the Charger ???
Well its red and sporty and more practical son...its  a four seater and got a big trunk
these Corvettes only got two seats and no trunk you know......
The guys total dissaponintmet is what kept him from using it all those years ???
And he wont sell it and dont show it to anyone. I drove past there a couple of years ago
when the doors was open when he was backing out a truck and saw it was still there

When it comes to Mopars, I'll never claim to know what I'm talking about. I took a guess at the year. Hell, that was 35 years ago. But if you want to be technical, the FIRST Challengers were made in '58 (according to Wikipedia, I had to look it up). But I'm pretty sure it was 1 of 10, as all Mopars are ;D

I had no clue they made a Dart Charger in 65... "A" bodies are not really my thing except the '68 HEMI Super Stockers.

As for being Jerico Jesus??? I didn't know I was Mexican...

In that case, I feel entirely justified in snagging those Mo points when your back was turned. OK, did you know that there were 27 1969 Satellite 4-doors built with a 383HP engine? And 2 of those were 4-speeds? Guess who has one of the 4-speeds? Yep, mo MO points for me.
