Yellow Freight. Block loss.
« on: May 24, 2019, 06:52:25 AM »
I don't know if anyone else has dealt with Yellow freight? I can say it's a typical Teamster Union operation. They don't give a shit. They lost my block coming from Tracey, Ca. It came to Oklahoma City. Both locations have the block being loaded on camera on their respective loads, yet it goes missing between OK City and Dallas?  What a bunch of assclowns. My saving grace is I am going to be sure to deal with them as I have been involved in some of the 737-800 issues and I have an ally with Dallas media because of this. Perhaps we need a segment on shady, hostile and lazy employees who don't give a damn.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I was subbed on a job in their shop and watched a mechanic take a whole day to change two tires on a trailer. After Yellow acquired Roadway, it seemed the Roadway guys were really bitter and decided they weren't going to do anything but try and screw the man. When shipping motors or blocks, it's best to have them in a completely enclosed crate so nobody knows what it is.

I deal with this on a daily basis at work.  Yellow is a major carrier and IMO the second worst following SAIA as far as these types of issues.

It is either at one of the terminals or (most likely) went out for local delivery from the last one it arrived at.  You need to contact the terminal(s) and the terminal manager. Go around the customer service lines...they are of no help really and very very slow.  You know pretty much where the break down occurred so you know it is between one or two locations, and you can suspect it got sent out in error for delivery locally(most likely) or worst case, rerouted to a different state(unlikely).  Google the terminal address, get a phone number, and call. Have your info ready(pro#).  I bet a dime to a dollar they loaded it on a local delivery trailer and it got to a local company and the receiving person(s) did not check and notate. IF it got loaded at the last terminal there "should" be a trailer number or another way the manager can see what got cross docked that night/day.  If you can get a trailer number then you can see whom all had deliveries on that trailer, and have them call them.  If you can sweet talk them, get their names/numbers and call them your self. It will be faster.

The drivers will remember an engine block delivery unless it was completely crated.  So have the manager ask!
Good luck. It is a head ache.  Think of it as a spider web, you know the last place, so now you have to work it logically.  But if you wait on their day to day CSR you will be waiting for a long time.

I have had trouble with yf,sata and others shipping engines and trannys in the past.
About 5 years ago I switched to Beaver freight based in Ok. and Tx area. I have shipped several engines with them to Calif and the east coast.
The last one was a Jag engine and tranny.
They are a little slow [10 days from Okla to Calif] but they have never lost a shipment for us.
You might try them next.
Hope they find your block, good luck.

^^ This is good info - squeaky wheel, call them every day.

I just dealt with them on a shipment I needed that lost it's PRO#, they sent it back to the original shipper in Boston when it was at their terminal in Calif. less than 2 miles from my office.
They couldn't even make a call to see where it was supposed to go before they sent it back across the country.

Dealing with them is like a monkey F-ing a football. As an American Pilot, I can airfreight anything up to 150 LBS for 32.00.  The block missed the mark by 61lbs so it went Yellow Freight.  I paid for the shipping here in DFW, provided the PRO number to the shipper and he drove the block to Tracy, CA to the terminal 118 miles from his home one way. The lazy asshat refused to pull up the PRO number and print the bill of lading to attach to the pallet. The man drove home with the block pissed off at me thinking it wasn't paid for.  He had to go to Alaska so I waited a month for his return.  He took it in Monday. It went from Tracy, CA to Oklahoma City. The shipping manager in OK swore up and down it was on the truck bound for the Dallas Terminal.  I called and spoke to at least a dozen people, several never called back as promised.  I went to the terminal with my paperwork this morning and demanded I be allowed with an escort to walk the dock at the terminal.
While I was there the Terminal manager walks out and tells me they found it.  I guess it wanted some Memphis BBQ, because that's where the damn thing went.
The morons at the terminal in OK loaded it onto the wrong trailer. Because I have 40 days to get this thing done and back in the Shelby for a wedding and knowing the machine work will take me two weeks to get back It's going to be difficult with my time constraints and it's starting to get pretty warm here in the Dallas area.
What a Cluster F**K this mess is.  The upside? They are expediting the return to the Dallas terminal and I was guaranteed to be able to pick it up at 0800 Sunday morning. Good timing, morons. I have to fly for four days starting Sunday evening.
I guess LoJack on the items is the way to go.
This is absolutely the most unorganized grabastic group of low IQ people I have had to contend with in some time, not to mention the "Teamster" attitude to go with it.
I am union, but without choice. The Allied Pilots Association would never tolerate this kind of crap.  I am flabbergasted.

I deal with truckers and rail roads all the time.

Do you know the difference between a trucker's story and a fairy tale?

Fairy tale begins... once upon a time

Truckers story begins... you ain't gonna believe this.

Just be glad it was not on a rail car
