If you can't get enough of this, here's a youtube video of what looks like four hours in the #66 GT car:

Sure was nice to see Ford win with Ganassi. The flap about sandbagging was courtesy of the Chevy Mafia as I understand. Recent history has shown if a Ford powered anything wins, the rules are protested and quickly changed. Most of the complaints are from the Chevy Mafia, almost always. Mustangs in Grand Am, prototypes are always protested and penalized either by restrictors in the inlet or weight. The 5.0 dohc motors in the prototype class had to run restictors about the size of 2- 50 cent coins. This was to satisfy the Chevy bunch who complained bitterly about the Fords having dohc and they had  antique pushrod engines. Oh well, this is the state of pro racing today....political wrangling.

FINAL---

Fords 1-3-4-9 in class. A Ferrari was second. The chibrolay was seventh, I think.

I understand in "vintage" racing there's are extreme difference in cars when get into the ages they do/don't have ground effects. Supposedly the ground effects  down-force increases the speeds and handling so much that mortals can't handle the added complexity and crash incidences increase.  Would be so cool to see the ground effects numbers on the new GT in race trim/speeds.

Typically, the VVT gives a bit of a lift in the mid-range. On my Lincoln's 'AJ' engine type, the VVT is not on the blower engines.

Go Ford! It's an iconic win for sure. Interesting that the organizers thought both Ford and Ferrari were sandbagging. That's o.k. But to change the rules at the last minute? Bad!

Wow, I didn't know about the post race wrangling described in the link below.  According to this link Ford #68 was penalized 70 seconds at the end of the race, and the Ferrari was penalized 20 seconds, leading to a margin of victory for Ford of only 10.2 seconds.  Plus, the third place #69 GT was behind the Ferrari by only 4.6 seconds after all that!  Imagine the uproar if the end of race penalties had put the Ferrari in first!

http://www.motorsport.com/lemans/news/le-mans-update-winning-ford-gt-hit-by-post-race-penalties-790114/?s=1

According to the article the #68 Ford was penalized 20 seconds for having wheel speed sensors that were not working properly.  Anybody know why this is an issue?  Perhaps it has to do with the telemetry from the car, and the wheelspeed sensors allow the race organizers to monitor the speeds of the cars through the caution areas or something?

Race organizers can  ALWAYS find something to complain about. I take it that Ferrari tried to change the outcome and someone at the organizer level decided not to put up with them this time.

According to the article, Ferrari ALLEGED Ford was speeding. So, there was no proof?
Ford should have alleged something else and pushed that butterball back to 3rd, or even 4th. I think Ken is right, and Ferarri realized they better shut up before that happened.

After 24hrs, that was an amazingly close race. I hope they come back and do it 3 more times  ;D
